Cape Cod

I'm popping in for a quick post and hello from.....Boston! I don't know how I didn't manage to post on this earlier. My sister graduated from her master's program at Salem State this week and the whole family made it out to celebrate! We've been in Boston where Heather lives for the last two days and tomorrow AM we're packing up the car and heading to CAPE COD for a week!!! I have never been and I'm so incredibly excited. If I had to describe my personal design style I would have to say Cape Cod is it.

This definitely isn't the time of year for lounging on the beach, but that's just fine! We have tons of exploring planned.

I can't wait to soak up every last minute and load up on inspiration!

I've gotta run! David has never been to the East Coast and we can't leave Boston without a trip to Fenway Park. The Red Socks are playing the Cubs and we're squeezing in a trip!

If anyone has any tips or must-visits in Cape Cod I'd love to hear them!

  3. Congrats to your sister!

Where are you staying on the Cape? What town? If you're near Wood's Hole, take the ferry over to Martha's Vineyard and walk around the gingerbread cottages in Oak Bluffs, then take a cab to Edgartown and walk around. Both towns are very different but equally beautiful.

If you're way out on the cape you should check out Provincetown. Nothing much will be open during the week so a weekend would be better but there are lots of beautiful homes and it's great to walk around if the weather is good.

Have fun! You can't go wrong.

  6. Have so much fun! I am about 45 minutes outside of Boston, but we have only lived here for about a year so we aren't quite experts yet. :) I have been to Nantucket a few times, though, and I would say it's definitely worth the ferry ride over! You would love all the little shops and charm!

  8. Cape Cod is our go-to vacation every single year. We spend as much time as possible there. You absolutely MUST visit Chatham, you will adore the main street with all the fabulous shops and you have to stop by The Chatham Bars Inn for drinks and/or dinner on the veranda. Amazing! Have a great time!

  9. I definitely suggest going to Martha's Vineyard for the day; there are ferries that leave out of Falmouth and Hyannis too.

I love the lower part of the Cape, past Hyannis, into Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet and Truro. I'd head to P-Town for the day and check out all the adorable towns on your way down!

  14. Provincetown is a must!! The houses are to die for!!!!!! Also loved a tour around the Kennedy compound, beautiful homes!!!! A day on Nantucket was breath taking and unforgetable!!! I am from New Brusnwick Canada, and visited the Cape 2 years ago, amazing experience as I too can sum up my style by simply saying Cape Code.

  20. I am so behind on blog reading... I would have loved to give you some recommendations ... I've been vacationing on the Cape since I was little. We rent a beautiful home in Brewster built in the 1800s. You would adore it. I hope someone told you about Buckies - the best macaroons ever. The rail trail for biking?? One of our favorite ways to explore the Cape. The Lobster Pot? The only thing I really care for in P town. And the vineyard!!! I just love edgartown. Nantucket is charming too...we are going to be there the end of June. So glad you had such a great trip!! I sometimes wonder how we ever moved away from Boston!!

  22. I'm a little behind on this post, but you can't go wrong on the Cape...it is beautiful everywhere you go...Chatham is definitely charming and had great shops on the main street, you can also go the the fishing pier where they bring in all the 'catches of the day', as well as a great view of the ocean right by the lighthouse there...if you are there in early July, the blue hydrangeas are in bloom everywhere!! Brewster is also very interesting with the 'General Store' there, something you must see while there...Provincetown is very interesting with all the houses, beaches and shops...You will fall in love with 'Old Cape Cod'..hope you had a great time!
